The sixth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise, subtitled Fallout, continued on from the story of Rogue Nation. After bringing down the Syndicate’s leader, the IMF learn that an enigmatic former member of the terrorist organization plans to detonate several nuclear weapons. Ethan Hunt and his IMF buddies join forces with Ilsa Faust once more to uncover a plot that involves sleeper agents within the CIA.
Joining the cast for Fallout is Henry Cavill, who plays against type as an excellent villain. Fallout is filled with twists and turns, taking its globe-trotting story to a whole new level. What’s more, it revisits practically every major surviving character from previous movies, and gives Hunt some unexpected closure.
There’s so much to love about Fallout, as its story is so brilliantly crafted and deftly told. It delivers some of the franchise’s most breath-taking sequences, involving a helicopter duel and a clifftop scuffle for a nuclear trigger that truly puts the viewer’s heart in their throat. Mission: Impossible – Fallout is the franchise’s most suspenseful title, and a world-class action movie to boot.
