7. Fantastic Four (2015)

Controversially, we don’t consider 2015’s Fantastic Four as entirely irredeemable. Unfortunately, most people wouldn’t agree, and it’s widely considered one of the worst comic book movies of modern times. However, there’s also plenty of evidence that it’s another of those movies that suffered from excessive studio meddling.

Much of the information available on the film’s production comes from its director. Unhappy with the underwhelming reaction to his movie, Josh Trank took to social media to air some of his issues with the studio. According to Trank, his script was rewritten without his permission or knowledge, and several scenes were reshot or reworked.

Though it’s impossible to know if Trank’s own desired finished product would have been better than the released film, it’s hard to imagine that it could have been taken any worse. As the director himself felt that the finished film didn’t reflect his original ideas and vision for the movie, it’s fair to say the film likely suffered from the studio’s alleged interference. Even so, it’s a moot point, as the Fantastic Four are now set to join the MCU, and Fox’s planned franchise was dead on arrival.
