4. Justice League (2017)

Movies that suffered from studio meddling - Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Justice League (2017)

Few films in recent years have had such publicly troubled productions as Justice League. Though the finished film still had its positives, it’s clear that behind-the-scenes issues plagued its creation. Many of these came about as the result of unforeseeable circumstances, but most can be boiled down to studio interference.

When writer/director Zack Snyder was forced to step back due for personal reasons, Warner Bros. brought Joss Whedon in to finish the film. Reportedly, the studio gave Whedon permission to rework the movie as he saw fit, resulting in massive changes to Snyder’s vision and an entirely different end product. The jarring shift between the director’s styles is all too evident in the finished film.

The studio’s ideas of what Justice League should be also factored in to Whedon’s film. After disregarding Snyder’s plans while also using a story he wrote, Justice League was widely disliked by critics and audiences. Though it wasn’t entirely down to pure studio meddling, the film certainly suffered after Warner Bros. stepped in.
