8 Minor Characters Who Shaped Their Movies

6. Dr. Terence Wynn – Halloween (1978)

The events of Halloween 4 through to Halloween 6 might no longer be canon in the ever-shifting landscape of the franchise, but they actually make a minor character from the original film considerably more important.

Dr Terence Wynn is only featured for a minute or so in 1978 slasher classic Halloween, but even then, it’s hinted that he may be more important than he seems. In a brief interaction with Dr. Sam Loomis, Wynn can be seen defending Michael Myers from his decidedly negative colleague. Loomis then insinuates that perhaps Wynn helped Myers escape.

It’s revealed in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (the sixth film in the franchise) that Wynn is actually the leader of the Cult of Thorn, who have bestowed supernatural powers upon Myers using blood rituals. Wynn is also responsible for rescuing Michael from police custody in Halloween 5, and has committed various murders in Halloween 4 through Halloween 6.

While the events of the three films were later retconned, Wynn’s role behind the scenes of earlier films in the franchise was revealed to have been far more substantial than his initial screen time let on, and indicates that despite only moments of screen time, his off screen role in the 1978 film may have been far more substantial.
