4. Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey in The Wedding Planner

Another musician-turned-actor who really shouldn’t have bothered is Jennifer Lopez. Okay, okay, maybe that opening is a little harsh, but it’s not entirely untrue, either. J.Lo’s acting career has been far more miss than hit, and there’s a clear reason for that: she just isn’t all that talented.

Most of Lopez’s starring roles have been in romantic dramas or comedies such as Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner, and Marry Me. She has also starred in Monster-in-Law, Anaconda, and Gigli, among many others, making a name for herself as something of a triple-threat performer. However, her actual acting ability leaves a great deal to be desired.

One of Lopez’s only roles to be genuinely praised by critics was in Hustlers, a 2019 crime drama that she also co-produced. Most of her roles are variations on the same theme: romantic comedy/dramas about a hard-working woman looking for a good man who reluctantly falls in love despite being powerfully independent. J.Lo has no real acting range to speak of, and though she’s passable at what she does, she’s far more talented in her career as a singer/dancer.
