2. James Bond – James Bond Franchise
Is this entry a cop out? Is pointing out all the ways James Bond changes over more than two dozen films too obvious? Can it even be done in the span of just one entry? We don’t know, but we’re going to try regardless.
For the sake of this list, let’s forget that Bond is recast every few films. Consider him one character who exists in one continuity (even if it’s just pre-Daniel Craig when there was a sort-of reboot). With that in mind, his personality shifts drastically over his spy career.
He’s one of those movie characters that has changed again and again to suit the decade, becoming a victim of his own longevity. Sometimes, he’s cool, calm and collected (think early Connery). Others, he’s far less smooth and constantly cracking wise (think late Roger Moore). Though the changes are entirely understandable, they’re still ripe for the picking when it comes to the context of this list.
