1. Opening The Cage – Jurassic World

The last entry is a pretty obvious one, but that doesn’t make it any less stupid. We’ll star by setting the scene: your job is to work at a dinosaur park, where you help keep the giant, ancient killing machines safely locked away in their habitats. Suddenly, you realize that the biggest of them all doesn’t appear to be in their enclosure. What do you do?

If you answered: “be patient”, “radio it in”, or “check again”, you have much more common sense than the characters of Jurassic World. That’s because, upon learning that the Indominus rex doesn’t appear to be in its enclosure, their first and only thought is to open the gate. It doesn’t go immediately awry for them, though; they’re lucky enough to have a few minutes of confusion before the killing starts and the dinosaur (who was in there the whole time) escapes for real.

Although the handlers didn’t know that the dinosaur possessed the ability to mask its heat signature, there’s no way that the standard procedure for dinosaur enclosures should be to open the gates at the first sign of any problems. Acting rashly (and stupidly) proved to be a costly mistake, and it ended with countless deaths, and eventually with dinosaurs being set loose upon the world. All in all, a pretty dumb decision from the characters of Jurassic World.
