6. Superman Lives

Possibly the most famous unmade movie of all time, Superman Lives is no big secret. After the success of Tim Burton’s Batman movies, Hollywood was keen to bring the Man of Steel back to the big screen. Burton was attached to direct, and Nicolas Cage was cast as the Kryptonian superhero. With both Burton and Cage attached, you should definitely expect weirdness, and Superman Lives would have had plenty.
Superman Lives went through many changes during the various scripts that were produced. At one stage, he was going to have a bionic suit, but the main story was always going to be loosely based on the “Death of Superman” story. Superman Lives would have seen Lex Luthor and Brainiac morph into one entity (called “Luthiac”) and kill Superman, who would later be revived by the residual life force of his long-dead parents.
We could go on, but there’s really no point. As interesting as it sounds, Superman Lives would have been thoroughly bizarre, especially with the frenetic Cage in the lead role. It’s probably for the better that it never got made, but it still would have been quite something to behold.
