5. Twins 2: Triplets

This is one of the worst entries on this list, if only because there’s actually a chance that it could still be made. For anyone who hasn’t seen 1988’s Twins, all you really need to know is this: it’s a comedy in which Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito’s characters learn that they are long-lost biological twins. It’s actually a little better than it sounds, but it’s still not exactly a masterpiece.
Still, Twins‘ success led to talks of a sequel, predictably titled Triplets. The third sibling would have been played by… Eddie Murphy. Yes, as though poking fun at different body types wasn’t enough, Triplets would have brought the question of race into the mix, just to really drive home how tone-deaf comedy can be.
The worst part is that the sequel is still potentially being made, albeit with Tracy Morgan replacing Eddie Murphy. Though all of the actors involved are getting on in years, filming was actually set to start in early 2022 but was complicated by the death of director Ivan Reitman. The film’s status is unknown, but we’re hoping it remains nothing more than an awful hypothetical.
