4. The Dark Tower (2017)
What’s this? Two Stephen King entries? Maybe we’re King superfans, or maybe Hollywood just consistently does the author dirty.
You remember The Dark Tower. Well, maybe not the box office bomb starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, but you might remember the bestselling series of fantasy novels. The reason the adaption did so poorly was simple: it was one of those movies that made horrible changes to the source material.
In all honesty, there’s too many awful changes to list them all here. We’re not even going to try. Suffice it to say that the books offered an atmospheric, rich fantasy world full of intriguing characters, and the films offered washed-out tones and one of the most half-assed adaptations ever made. Not that we’re bitter about it or anything.
