2. Constantine (2005)

Nowadays, when you adapt a comic book character to the big screen played by one of the world’s most beloved stars, you’re all but guaranteed a franchise. However, 2005 was a different time, believe it or not, and comic book movies weren’t afforded quite the same reverence. Just take Constantine, for example.
Almost two decades later, a sequel is finally in development. However, considering the film’s cult following, it should have materialized years ago, with Constantine forming part of a wider DC cinematic continuity. Had this happened, we could have had decades of Keanu Reeves fighting demons in the DC Cinematic Universe.
As it stands, we’ll happily settle for the upcoming sequel. Better late than never, and all that. Even so, it’s hard not to think of what might have been, particularly as the MCU rose to prominence just a few short years after Constantine‘s release.
