1. An Assortment Of Oddballs – Dinner For Schmucks (2010)

Though the movie’s name sort of gives it away, the whole plot of Dinner for Schmucks builds to one incredibly awkward meal. The film follows Tim (Paul Rudd), who to secure his promotion is tasked with finding a strange and tragic individual to bring to a dinner. He lucks out when he meets Barry (Steve Carell), an amateur mouse taxidermist.
The film’s story concerns Tim gradually building a friendship with Barry and growing a conscience. However, the climactic meal is predictably awful: there are all manner of oddballs showing off their bizarre talents. It’s not until Therman (Zach Galifianakis) – Barry’s ex-wife’s new husband – arrives and begins compelling Barry using “mind control” that things truly take a turn.
After Tim reveals the true intent of the dinner, the guest revolt. One man loses a finger, and the host, Tim’s boss, ends up having his house burned down. Not undeserved, to be sure, but certainly one of the most disastrous movie meals of all time.
