7. Violent Night (2022)
You know what no one has ever asked for? Santa to be a vengeful murderer. You know what Violent Night gives us? Yeah.
The 2022 sees David Harbour star as not-so-jolly old Saint Nick, who encounters a hostage situation on Christmas night. Naturally, being the generous sort, Santa opts to help, and sets about brutally murdering the criminals in order to thwart their plans. That’s one way to let someone know they’re on the naughty list, we guess.
Violent Night earned some pretty impressive reviews, and offered up an alternative sort of Christmas experience for those with a passion for violent cinema. All told, though, it’s a pretty odd premise for a Christmas movie, taking a mythological figure beloved by children and having him kill people with a sledgehammer. It may not be the weirdest of all Christmas movie premises, but it’s certainly up there.
