Though the MCU has achieved a consistent level of popularity over its time on our screens, the franchise has also featured a number of cringe-worthy moments. From the franchise’s very beginning in 2008 with Iron Man all the way through to its Multiverse Saga, the MCU has enjoyed its reputation for blending action, drama, and comedy. Keeping this balance has proved difficult on occasion, resulting in moments that don’t land as intended with the audience.
When a planned joke doesn’t come off as funny as intended, or when a pop culture reference feels overly forced, the only appropriate reaction is to cringe in second-hand embarrassment. Sadly, the MCU has more examples of this phenomenon than it would probably like to think, and we’ve compiled some of the worst offenders. Here are the 7 most cringe-worthy moments in the MCU.
7. She-Hulk Twerking
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (2022)

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was a departure from previous MCU offerings. Its fourth wall-breaking format and commentary on toxic masculinity set it apart from the rest of the franchise, instantly granting it a sense of otherness that put some viewers on edge. However, there were one or two specific moments that stood out as especially cringe-inducing in their execution, and they actually had very little to do with the elements that made the show unique.
After representing a client in a bizarre case in which a shape-shifter convinced a man she was Megan Thee Stallion, She-Hulk finds herself face to face with the real artist. Having successfully won the case, the hero celebrates… by getting a lesson in twerking in her office from Ms. Thee Stallion herself. Something about the scene felt so incredibly forced that many couldn’t help but wince as it played out.
