Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
It could never have been anything else. Of all the cringe-worthy DCEU moments, one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Batman v Superman pits the two heroes against one another, with their disagreement coming to a head in an epic showdown.
Just as Batman gets the upper hand over Superman and prepares to kill him using kryptonite, he’s stopped by Superman’s attempts to utter a message. “MARTHA!“, Superman chokes out, only for Batman to relent. His confusion is objectively rather funny, as is the lame explanation that the two heroes’ mothers coincidentally share a name.
Everything about the moment is awful. The writing, the delivery, the high stakes melting away as two heroes bond over their mothers’ names. It’s almost poetic in its ridiculousness, and it’s incredibly cringe-worthy.
