2. The Hunger Games

Based on Suzanne Collins’ book series of the same name, The Hunger Games is a franchise that translated the popular young adult dystopian fiction into several major blockbusters, and ignited a wave of similar semi-family friendly franchise adaptations.
Despite the films having a widespread appeal and being a massive pop culture influence, they really aren’t particularly good.
They might have the Academy Award winning Jennifer Lawrence and numerous other high profile stars, but none of that takes away from the fact that The Hunger Games is a massive rip-off.
Collins effectively lifted the plot directly from Japanese film Battle Royale, then added in a few sci-fi/fantasy elements in a transparent attempt to hide her apparent plagiarism.
Still, even with their lack of originality put to one side, The Hunger Games films are formulaic and largely forgettable.
