2. Captain Kirk – Star Trek (2009)

When J.J. Abrams decided to reboot the Star Trek franchise, the idea to use an alternate reality was a great one. However, a new continuity needed new backstories, so 2009’s Star Trek had to reinvent how all its characters met. In doing so, it inadvertently made James T. Kirk one of the luckiest movie heroes ever created.
When Kirk attempts a mutiny, Spock maroons him a remote planet and disappears at warp speed. Kirk wanders aimlessly across the frozen tundra until he meets old Spock, who explains the whole timeline swap. Then, the pair randomly encounter Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, who just so happens to be the only man capable of getting Kirk back onto the Enterprise.
Kirk being marooned on the only planet in the world where he might find a way back into the action is all but impossible. Being left close enough to Scotty’s location on that planet is even more unlikely. Scotty having the means to immediately invent a whole new type of transportation just for the sake of the plot is practically ludicrous. Just to top it off, Kirk’s luck only continues throughout the sequels. He should probably consider visiting a space casino – with luck like that, he’d definitely clean up.
