The scene:
While Rocket has been on the brink of death, his friends have learned about his tragic origins while searching for the means to save him. Having finally saved Rocket’s life, the Guardians of the Galaxy head off to face the High Evolutionary’s forces in an attempt to save as many lives as possible. Rocket exclaims that he’s “done runnin’” as the team head into battle amid the wreckage of the villain’s burning ship.
The song: “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” by Beastie Boys
As the Guardians face down the High Evolutionary’s genetically modified forces, Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep Till Brooklyn begins to play. The song’s hard-hitting guitar riff is appropriately badass for the powerful Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 moment, and continues to play throughout its impressive continuous-shot hallway fight scene. It may not be the most symbolic song, but it certainly fits the tone of the scene perfectly.
