2. Quicksilver’s High Speed Rescue – X-Men: Apocalypse

The scene:

Arriving at Professor Xavier’s mansion, Quicksilver sees that the X-Men are in danger as the building is exploding. Using his super speed, he rushes into the building, rescuing countless fellow mutants and depositing them safely on outside. He zips around the building even as it continues to explode, showcasing the incredible extent of his powers in a wonderfully-realized slo-mo scene.

The song: “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” by Eurythmics

In one of the best needle drop moments of all time, Quickviler’s burst into action is underlined by Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)”. The song’s pulsing synths perfectly capture the spirit of the film’s ’80s setting, perfectly complementing the visual spectacle of Quicksilver’s heroics. It’s a triumphant moment in the movie itself, and it’s punctuated by one of the most beloved songs of the ’80s.
