5. Freddy Krueger

Look, we know that Freddy Krueger is bad news. He’s an accused child murderer who is so evil that he stuck around after death to kill even more kids through their dreams. He loves his work, too, and laughs his way through his grisly crusade.
The thing is, Krueger is a funny guy. He’s got a seemingly endless string of quips, and enjoys exacting his bloody schemes in the most poetic (or otherwise outrageous) way imaginable. He’s got a great sense of irony, and he takes genuine joy in his existence as a dream-walking murderer.
What makes Freddy Krueger so likable isn’t that he seems like a good guy, but that he knows he’s a bad one. He’s aware of how evil he is, and he loves every second. If a bloodthirsty maniac can love himself, anyone can – and that aspirational element is ultimately what makes Freddy Krueger seem so likable.
