4. Jigsaw

Tobin Bell as John Kramer Jigsaw in Saw

The thing about John Kramer is that he’s not a murderer in quite the same way as so many other horror movie antagonists. He’s the type of guy that believes he’s helping his victims. It’s a shame that the only way he thinks he can do that is by luring them into potentially deadly and incredibly convoluted traps, but he’s still trying to help.

What makes Jigsaw such a likable horror movie villain is that he has a code. He doesn’t outright kill people, he just gives them a painful task to complete to earn their survival. The idea is that he wants to teach his victims to appreciate their lives, and that’s something we can all get on board with.

Kramer is a little intense, but he seems like a nice enough guy. He seems like the sort of person who would help you move house (but maybe not someone you’d trust with a spare key, which he’d likely surgically implant into your skull). Though he might be one of the most creatively cruel horror movie villains out there, he’s certainly not all bad.
