6. Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li (2009)
Not merely an awful video game movie, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is widely considered one of the worst movies ever made. Following Chun-Li, the Street Fighter franchise mainstay, the 2009 film stars Kristen Kreuk and Chris Klein alongside Neal McDonough and Michael Clarke Duncan. It holds a 3% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a good indicator of the film’s overall quality.
As Street Fighter is perhaps the most iconic fighting game franchise out there, this seems particularly disappointing. Still, fighting games aren’t exactly known for their stories, so trying to squeeze a little narrative juice from this particular game cartridge seems particularly idiotic. Whether or not the film was ill-advised in the first place isn’t the point, though: it’s objectively bad on its own merit.
Wooden performances from miscast actors and a thoroughly inane plot make The Legend of a Chun-Li an absolute chore. It lacks any genuine merit, and even somehow manages to suck the fun out of the Street Fighter franchise by association. It’s bad in every conceivable way, and you’d do well to avoid this film like that plague that it is.
