2. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)

Movies based on fighting games are rarely good, but they’re also rarely this bad. 1997’s Mortal Kombat: Annihilation took things to a whole new level of awful, and is considered one of the worst movies ever made. A 4% score on Rotten Tomatoes still somehow doesn’t quite paint the full picture of how bad it really is.
Not only was every aspect of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation panned by critics, but it was also a commercial flop. With practically no redeeming qualities whatsoever, it’s only really watchable from an ironic perspective. Its ridiculousness is unintentionally funny, but it’s still ultimately a very sad state of affairs.
As the Mortal Kombat games are so beloved and have a roster of interesting characters, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation deserved to be better. At the very least, it should have boasted some decent action, but sadly, it’s just cheesy incoherent nonsense. It has no plot, no substance, and is ultimately no good.
