6. Tom Welling – Cheaper By The Dozen (2003)

TV actors you forgot had big movie roles - Tom Welling and Hilary Duff in Cheaper by the Dozen (2003)

Could you consider Tom Welling a victim of the Superman Curse? Well, maybe not the actor himself, but his career, at least. After spending 10 years playing Clark Kent, the man who would be Superman, in Smallville, Welling’s career dried up a little.

As well as Smallville, Welling featured heavily in Lucifer and Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters, but never really broke free from television. However, despite being predominantly a TV actor, Welling has enjoyed a movie role or two. Even while garnering praise for his role in Smallville, Welling was appearing in Cheaper by the Dozen alongside some major stars.

In a film that also features Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, and Piper Perabo, Welling was far from the biggest star. However, he was undoubtedly one of the main characters of the film and featured prominently in the ensemble. Unfortunately, his turn in Cheaper by the Dozen just wasn’t that memorable, and Welling mostly stuck with TV roles afterward.
